pancake stackThe Festival is held the last full week of April each year. During Syrup Festival week there are numerous garage & yard sales.

Thursday night is our annual Carnival "Buddy Nite". We start the Carnival with buy one ride band and get a second ride band for half price. The Carnival rides open at 5:00 p.m.

We look forward to celebrating the our 57th Annual Maple Syrup Festival with you! 

The Village of Shepherd is located West of US 127 between Alma/St. Louis to the South and Mt. Pleasant to the North. Google Map. You may want a copy of the Village Map with event locations.

Pre-Festival - Maple Weekend - March 14th & 15th

Children visiting the Shepherd Sugarbush during Maple WeekendThe Michigan Maple Syrup Association is sponsoring its 3rd Annual Michigan Maple Weekend and the Shepherd Sugar Bush is one of the participating maple syrup producers.

Visit the Sugar Bush during production, enjoy community in a small town atmoshpere, and of course the delicious maple syrup treats!

  • Dates: Saturday March 14 and Sunday March 15
  • Times:  10 am - 4 pm each day
  • Location: 415 N.  3rd Street, Shepherd, MI 48883
  • Directions: From the U. S. 127 go west into the village; at Rhyno's Car Washes turn north onto 3rd St and go to far end (about 5 blocks).

Activities include:

    • See the sap buckets on the maple trees as you drive through town
    • tour the sugar bush building
    • learn about the maple syrup process
    • hear the sounds of the evaporator as maple sap is boiled and turned into pure maple syrup
    • enjoy free pancakes with syrup, maple candy, maple ice cream, and other maple goodies.
    • Kids will enjoy coloring maple scenes, doing maple word searches, mazes, and much more...

This event takes place during the maple season. Maple Weekend is a pre-event to the Shepherd Maple Syrup Festival which is held April 23-26, 2015
