Shepherd Chamber of Commerce and Friends of the Library to sponsor free movie September 22

The community is invited to attend a free showing of “The Lion King” on Friday, September 22 inside the Village Park starting at 8:30 p.m. The movie is sponsored by the Shepherd Chamber of Commerce and the Shepherd Community Library Friends of the Library. Admission is free. Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair and a blanket. Concessions will be accepted. Google Doc

Remembering 9/11
In honor of the 16th anniversary of the 9/11 attack, I wanted to share a couple of questions with everybody:

Where were you when you found out about the events of September 11, 2001? Also, what stands out the most in your memory of that day? I was home that morning with my wife and then one-year-old daughter. The TV was on and tuned to the “Today Show.” I remember that at first they were reporting on a fire in the Trade Center, and rumors that a small plane had crashed into it.

HOBBIES: Photography, card making, sewing and my absolute favorite is going to my grandkids sporting/school events. WHY I LOVE BEING A CROSSING GUARD: “I love seeing the kids smiling faces and the occasional hugs!”
WORDS OF ADVICE FOR STUDENTS/PARENTS: “It is important for the students to stay on the curb until I tell them that it is okay to step off. If they ride a bicycle to school I want them to push it across the road.”

HOBBIES: “I don’t really have any hobbies…but I love to solve problems and make things easier. I do have 3 cats and they keep me busy”
WHY I LOVE BEING A CROSSING GUARD: “I love seeing the kids grow and learn. It’s fun to talk to them as we wait to go out into the street.
