This year, we have a great schedule of events planned for this year’s Shepherd Maple Syrup Festival taking place April 27-30. We will once again offer the events that have become festival staples: Arts & Craft Show, Pancake Dinners, Carnival, Old Car Show, Community Dance, and Tractor Pulls. The Flea Market, an event we introduced last year, will be returning for 2017. A brand-new event we’ve added to the schedule and which will take place on Saturday afternoon is the Demolition Derby.
The Shepherd Chamber of Commerce held its annual Business After Hours event on Wednesday night inside the Maple Leaf. The event featured food, beer tasting, and games, and was sponsored by Mercantile Bank. Early in the evening, Kathy Edwards was recognized for being selected to be this year’s Parade Grand Marshal, and then the winners of the Maple Leaf decorating and the Derby Hat contests were announced.
The Carnival Rides will open tonight, Thursday, April 27, at 5 p.m. They will stay open into the late evening, although there isn’t a set time in the schedule. The cost of a wristband for Buddy Night is two for $20.
